Directions to Swardeston and St Mary’s Church

The postcode for the church is NR14 8EB. This covers a wide area on the west side of the village and the Common.

Getting to Swardeston by car:

  • From Norwich via A140
    Take the A140 heading south towards Ipswich. After the south boundary of the city the B1113 to the right heads towards Mulbarton. Swardeston is about 2 miles along this road. At the far end of the village turn right down Church Loke (with its large noticeboard) and park by the War Memorial in front of St Mary’s Church.
  • From the south east of Norwich via B1113
    Take the B1113 through Mulbarton. Come (slowly!) into Swardeston as immediately on your left is Church Loke (with its large noticeboard). Park by the War Memorial in front of St Mary’s Church.
  • From the east or west of Norwich via A47
    Come along the A47 to the A140 interchange. Head north towards Norwich past Tescos. At the bottom of the hill take the left fork towards Mulbarton on the B1113. Swardeston is about 2 miles along this road. At the far end of the village turn right down Church Loke (with its large noticeboard) and park by the War Memorial in front of St Mary’s Church.
  • From the south west of Norwich via A11
    At the Thickthorn interchange take the exit towards Gt Yarmouth on the A47. At the A140 interchange head north towards Norwich past Tescos. At the bottom of the hill take the left fork towards Mulbarton on the B1113. Swardeston is about 2 miles along this road. At the far end of the village turn right down Church Loke (with its large noticeboard) and park by the War Memorial in front of St Mary’s Church.

Buses to Swardeston from Norwich and Mulbarton
Service no 37
– this runs every half hour (but not on Sundays) from St Stephens Street and Castle Meadow and from Mulbarton. It will deliver you to a stop by the village sign or by the Bakery. See directions to the Church above.

Disabled access
There are 5-7 vehicle spaces available for cars with disabled drivers/passengers in Church Loke leading to the church (at the Mulbarton end of the village – see signs at the loke). The church paths are gravel. The ramped access into the church for wheelchairs and those finding steps difficult is via the North door. Immediately by this door is the Cavell Room where there is level access and a w.c. suitably equipped for visitors with disabilities.
